First of its kind Holiday Inn Express in Alpena gets state approval for brownfield incentives

LANSING, MI — A new kind of Holiday Inn Express is going into downtown Alpena with monetary assistance from Michigan taxpayers.

The 1.93-acre location at 225 River Street in Alpena is the site of a former sawmill and auto shop. The Michigan Strategic Fund on Tuesday approved $1.2 million in local and school tax capture for brownfield activities.
